As you’re nearing the end of your IU Southeast career, there are a few things you’ll need to know about applying for graduation, participating in Commencement, and collecting your diploma. Please see Commencement webpage for all those details and more.
All degree candidates must apply to graduate. Submitting a graduation application means:
Degrees will not be awarded without a graduation application on file with your school. Contact your school with questions.
If you applied to graduate for a previous date, but did not graduate, you must reapply for a future term.
You’ll get a red IU diploma cover—but not the diploma itself—at Commencement. There are a few steps you need to take to ensure you get your diploma:
All diplomas other than professional diplomas are 8 ½ x 11 inches. Professional diplomas (Doctor of Jurisprudence and Doctor of Optometry) are 16 x 20 inches.
Original diplomas and certificates undergo rigorous quality assurance before being sent directly to students via USPS First Class mail to your Home Address on file. To ensure accurate delivery, please ;make sure your Home Address is correct by logging into One.IU and verifying your personal information. Diplomas begin shipping four to six weeks after the degree conferral date.
All Indiana University campuses now provide Certified Electronic Credentials (CeCredentials) to graduates. If you graduated in Spring 2018 or later, you can request a Certified Electronic Credential in addition to your traditional paper diploma or certificate. There is a $10.95 charge for this service. This permanent electronic copy does not replace the paper copy of your diploma or certificate. Rather it is an official, portable, and publicly verifiable image of your document to complement the printed credential. Future employers, state government licensing agencies, or any other foreign or domestic entity that wishes to validate your degree can independently do so for each CeDiploma and/or CeCertificate, free of charge. You don’t have to wait for the email to pre-order one, though. Simply search “electronic diplomas” in One.IU to access the application site.
Your diploma represents the time and hard work you spend on your education. If something’s happened to yours, if you’ve changed your professional name, or if you just want a fresh diploma, we can help.
IU Southeast processes requests for replacement diplomas and certificates submitted through CeCredential Trust. Orders are processed monthly during the first week of each month. Expect delivery via USPS First Class mail to the address you specify within four to six weeks.
The fee for a replacement diploma or certificate, including postage, is $35.00.
If your name has changed since you graduated and you’re requesting a diploma with your new name, you must:
